Wouldn’t it be cool if the world were an awesomer place because YOUR invention were in it? We think so and so does Connect A Million Minds, will.i.am FIRST, and inventor Dean Kamen – you know, the guy behind the Segway? Yea. Just this morning the trio announced their science fair contest charging kids ages 10 to 15 to come up with the coolest, most far out invention and innovation ideas for Wouldn’t It Be Cool If…

Between now and March 28, 2012, kids grouped by ages 10-12 and 13-15 can log on to WouldntItBeCoolIf.com┬áto submit their world changing idea. Projects are judged by internet peers via digital votes throughout the duration of submission. Finalists are then selected to pitch in front of Black Eyed Peas will.i.am, Dean Kamen, and other noted guests judges for a shot at having their winning idea made in real life. Contestants can enter as individuals or in teams for 2 or 3 and must share how, exactly, math and science (STEM) helps make their idea possible. There are resources provided on the site for parents and educators as well as oodles of encouragement from friend of Will at i.am.FIRST. We can all keep track of and vote for our favorite projects by clicking the “AWESOME” button on each projects page in the Idea Gallery. Day 1 of the contest already has ideas such as a solar powered laser pen, portable fruit chillers, and a water-solar power car! Indeed, it would be cool. Team CAL will be keeping close tabs of all things cool on our Facebook Page so go “Like” us and keep it locked! We want to know which are YOUR favorite ideas!
